| Phra Phutthachai
 The red halo-like spot on the
rock shelter of Khao Pathavi (Pathavi Hill) is
believed to be an imprint of the shadow of the Lord
Buddha. It was discovered during the reign of
King Songtham of Ayutthaya almost at the same time
when the Buddha's footprints were found in Saraburi.
Near the shadow imprint is a
Mandapa housing the Lord Buddha's right footprint,
constructed under the orders of King Sua of
Ayutthaya. Nearby is planted a Bodhi tree
brought from Sri Langka in 1949. There are
Buddhist festivals to worship Phra Phutthachai at
the same time as Phra Phuttha Bat in Saraburi every
year.
History : The King
Songtham of Ayutthaya had an order to find out if
Buddha's footprint was in the mountains, and Phra
Phutthachai was the place.
Phra Phutthachai History :
The Buddha had taught a hunter. His name was
Khataga. After finishing in Buddhist teaching,
Khataga asked him for a momentum from the Buddhist
teaching. The Buddha showed Khataga the shadow
of himself on the mountain for a momentum. So
the word "Phra Phutthachai" came from the
shadow on the mountain. |
